Run the DSET binary to create a report, clear the ESM Hardware Log of a PowerEdge server, or to permanently install the DSET RPM package for later use.
DSET provides a web browser based user interface with hierarchical device trees, based on the applicable features of the given server model, that enables a convenient means to view specific data.
DSET gathers Dell specific storage information such as PERC controllers and their firmware, array/containers, enclosures, physical hard drives installed, etc.
DSET always collects Linux Operating System information such as services, processes, modules, and logs, as well as information about various Dell OpenManage products if installed.
Installation Instructions
Custom Instructions for delldset_v1.4.0.8.bin:
Download: 1. Click the "Download Now" link to download the file. 2. If the Export Compliance Disclaimer window appears, click the "I agree" link to accept the agreement. 3. When the File Download window appears, click "Save" to save the file to your hard drive.
Installation: Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and open a console or command prompt. Run the DSET binary from the console or command prompt: ./delldset_1.4.0.8.bin
Once the Dell license is accepted, follow the binary wizard instructions to do any of the following:
1. Read DSET Release Notes First - Displays the README contents 2. Create a DSET Report Only - Loads DSET to create a standard system configuration report which is typically written to the current user's home directory 3. Clear ESM Hardware Log - Clears the log of any past hardware events. This also typically resets the PowerEdge amber warning light to blue 4. Install/Upgrade DSET Application - Permanently installs DSET for repeat use Note: Add the optional parameter "--install" to silently install the DSET application for repeat use. The default installation path is /opt/dell/dset.
