No, you can still download files via you browser without using the Dell Driver Download Manager. When your first try to download a file you will be presented with a pop up screen offering Driver Download Manager or Internet Browser. If you choose Internet Browser you can download files as per normal.

Yes, you will need .NET framework version 2.0. If it is not installed on your system, it will be installed as part of the Dell Driver Download Manager installation.

I chose Dell Driver Download Manager but now I no longer want to use it, what do I do?
 
To make the pop up appear again so you can chose not to download via the browser empty the cookies for you internet browser. Choose the second option for Internet Browser and ensure the remember by selection box is ticked on the bottom right of the pop up.

If Download Notifications are not enabled in your browser's security settings, then your browser's security setting may be blocking file downloads without displaying any notification."

The Dell Driver Download Manager offers you the ability to save the progress of your download by adding an icon to your desktop. If you are behind a proxy, you have to start the download process from beginning.
